The amount of weight loss achieved with GLP-1 receptor agonists varies depending on the specific medication used. For example, in clinical trials, patients taking liraglutide (a GLP-1 receptor agonist) for 56 weeks lost an average of 5.9% of their body weight, compared to a placebo group who lost 2.3%. Similarly, patients taking semaglutide (another GLP-1 receptor agonist) for 68 weeks lost an average of 13.8% of their body weight, compared to 2.3% in the placebo group.
It’s important to note that weight loss is not the primary goal of GLP-1 receptor agonist therapy, but it’s often a beneficial side effect, especially for people with type 2 diabetes who are overweight or obese. The weight loss achieved with GLP-1 receptor agonists is often accompanied by improvements in blood sugar control and other health benefits.
Studies have shown that patients who stop taking GLP-1 receptor agonists may experience some weight regain, but the amount of weight regained is typically less than the amount lost during treatment. For example, in a clinical trial of liraglutide, patients who stopped taking the medication regained an average of 1.6 kg (3.5 lbs) over a 12-week period, compared to an average weight loss of 5.9% during treatment.
It’s important to note that the weight loss achieved with GLP-1 receptor agonists is typically accompanied by improvements in blood sugar control and other health benefits, so even if some weight is regained after stopping the medication, the patient may still experience overall health benefits from the treatment.
To maintain weight loss after stopping GLP-1 receptor agonists, it is important for patients to continue to follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen, as well as work with their healthcare provider to monitor their blood sugar levels and manage any other health conditions.
.. INJECTING FORMULA ..
GLP-1 by Semaplus Protocol
Injecting medication subcutaneously involves injecting the medication into the layer of fat just below the skin. Here are general steps to follow when injecting medication subcutaneously:
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Choose the injection site. Common injection sites include the abdomen, thighs, upper arms and buttocks.
- Clean the injection site with an alcohol swab and let it dry completely.
- Remove the cap of the needle and hold the syringe with your dominant hand.
- Pinch the skin at the injection site with your non-dominant hand to create a small fold.
- Hold the syringe like a pencil and insert the needle into the skin at a 45-90 degree angle, depending on the length of the needle and the thickness of the skin.
- Slowly push the plunger down to inject the liquid.
- Withdraw the needle and release the pinch on the skin.
- Press a clean alcohol swab over the injection site for a few seconds to help prevent bleeding and bruising.
- Dispose of the needle and syringe in a sharps container.
